Responsibilities
I was responsible for assessing patient condition and history prior to and then initiating and securing IV access for administration of contrast dye used in CT and MRI scans. Responsibilities also included obtaining a blood sample from some patients and setting up and running certain blood tests needed, interpreting results and informing scan technicians of results so proper adjustments in scan procedure could be taken promptly based on particular needs indicated by test results. I was also responsible for
continued patient assessment after contrast administration, during and post scan, monitoring for any potential adverse reaction to dye, including anaphylaxis or any other adverse change in condition, and correct response and patient treatment should any be needed. I was also responsible for patient greeting and escort, stocking and maintaining supplies including medical, patient comfort and word robe change needs as well as general facility and office supplies. In addition I was also responsible for planning and conducting random unannounced scenario based medical emergency safety drills for the staff to ensure proper coordinated team response should adverse patient stability declination arise.
Accomplishments
I was able to make adjustments to patient care and treatment area including equipment and supply placement and storage to streamline treatment time and increase comfort for patients aiding in a tints being more calm and relaxed going into scans resulting in less delay and interruption of scans due to the necessity of elevating patient anxiety, overall adding to more completed scans with shorter duration and quicker more expedient client turnover.
