Growing up in the small city of Petersburg, VA, academics was not at the forefront of what was offered. A city plagued by scarce opportunity, gangs and drugs, violence, and a population that lacked ambition seems like it could only breed a product of the environment. I am no product of such. As a kid, I was more influenced by the positive forces I found in cartoons and sitcoms, and somewhat ignored the realities of my environment. Fortunately, I moved out of Petersburg to a nearby town more suited to who I was. This is where I was able to focus more on my grades and eventually end up in advanced classes in middle school, and AP classes by 11th grade. I was recognized as a good story-teller and writer in AP English, and I never let go of those skills. I’m here to use and hone those skills. I can’t wait to be your next writer and show you what I’ve got!
